Tanzania Safari

Hello fellow Adventurers!

Flipflops and Adventures is thrilled to present our long awaited and carefully curated luxury safari in Tanzania. You will visit the iconic Serengeti National Park and the pristine Ngorongoro Conservation Area to experience some of the most enchanting scenery, colorful culture and plentiful wildlife in the world.

This tour is an epic experience and it ranks at the top of many people’s “bucket list” for good reason! Our curated safari is suitable for all ages and will allow you to make treasured memories with your favorite travel companions. My husband and I took this trip with our children ages two and nine and every single member of our family was delighted through each new experience we shared. We have made careful choices to ensure your comfort throughout the adventure by selecting air conditioned and enclosed vehicles, pleasant accommodations, and delicious local food.

This immersive and unique tour will allow you to engage your senses and make vivid and unique memories as you are surrounded by nature through game drives with expert safari guides in the Serengeti, Lake Manyara and the Ngorongoro Crater. You will taste the local food, learn about one of the most culturally distinctive and semi-nomadic people in Africa with a visit to a Maasai Village, and more unique experiences curated by Flipflops and Adventures. The hand-selected amazing local accommodations have elevated service and food and are designed to reflect the local landscape and culture.

We are very excited to have fiercely negotiated the best rates and custom experiences created only for my tours. You will find our safari tours to be extremely inclusive with all 5-star accommodations, all of your meals with the exception of one lunch, and unique experiences included in the price.

After much research and comparison, we can confidently say that safaris with similar itineraries and less inclusions are currently being sold for at least 25% to 40% more than our safari tour.

Keep in mind that each trip booked through Flipflops and Adventures sponsors a young Tanzanian woman to partake in a professional hospitality and leadership training course to help give her a head start on her career!

Day 1 - Arrival Karibu (Welcome in Swahili) Tanzania

On arrival at Kilimanjaro International Airport we will meet our driver who will drive us approximately 40 minutes to the Weru Weru River Lodge. After checking into your room, our local guide will sit down with you to review your itinerary and plans for the following days. We will allow you time to recover from travel and settle into your accommodations.

Day 2 - Visit to Serval Wildlife

After breakfast our driver will pick us up from the Weru Weru River Lodge and drive us approximately one hour to Serval Wildlife. Serval Wildlife is a sustainable lodge and wildlife haven, where we will have the opportunity to get up close and personal with the native animals of Tanzania, such as: majestic lions, Colobus monkeys, Masai giraffes, Oafish ostriches, bat-eared foxes and many more. We will learn about their natural environments, be able to interact with and feed some of the animals and take pictures with them. After our visit at Serval Wildlife, we will stop along the way and you can get some lunch on your own before we return in the evening for dinner and an overnight stay at the Weru Weru River Lodge.

Day 3 - Lake Manyara National Park

In the morning, our driver will pick us up after breakfast and drive us to the Lake Manyara Serena Hotel in the beautiful Lake Manyara National Park. We will then enjoy a half-day game drive through the Lake Manyara National Park, known for their tree climbing lions, elephant herds, blue and vervet monkeys and flamingos. In the evening, we will get to enjoy the captivating views over the lake and the park and a “Sundowner” back at the beautiful hotel. This is a tradition that involves a drink while relaxing and enjoying your surroundings as the sun sets after a safari.

Day 4 - Serengeti National Park

After breakfast our drivers will pick us up and we will drive to the Serengeti Acacia Camps. In the evening, we will take the opportunity for a once in a lifetime chance to stargaze over the Serengeti with no light pollution, and learn about astronomy at our hotel.

Day 5 - Game Drive at Serengeti National Park

Today, after an early breakfast our guide will pick us up and drive us to Serengeti National Park for a game drive. The Serengeti is best known for its vast array of beautiful African animals. Our expert guides will use their experience and skill to help us spot as many of them as we can during our drive! We will look for leopards, cape buffalo, wildebeests, black rhino, cheetahs, giraffes, elephants, crocodiles, hippos, baboons, hyenas, ostriches, secretary birds and countless other wild and fascinating creatures! We will stop to have a pre-packed hot picnic lunch inside the park. Later we will drive back to our unique and memorable luxury tented camp hotel for dinner and relaxation.

Day 6 - Ngorongoro Crater

Today, after breakfast we will check out of the hotel and our driver will pick us up and drive us towards Lake Manyara Serena Hotel. While on route we will enjoy the privilege of a scenic drive through the Ngorongoro Crater National Conservation Area. The Ngorongoro Crater is extremely distinctive due to its high concentration of wildlife.

During our visit to this region we will be welcomed into a Maasai village for a tour. This wonderful cultural trip will immerse you into the fascinating ancestry of these noble people. At the Maasai village, we will have the opportunity to meet with a Maasai family, visit a traditional boma, the village huts called Manyatta. These huts are made of cow dung and clay plastered over stick frames. They will teach us about their traditions and demonstrate some of their unique skills like a jumping dance competition and fire making skills.

Later in the evening we will arrive at Lake Manyara Serena Hotel where we will have dinner and relax, maybe taking a swim and enjoying the stunning scenery from the infinity pool over Lake Manyara.

Day 7 - Souvenir Shopping and Departure

We will get an early start from the hotel today and our driver will pick us up and drive us back to the Kilimanjaro International Airport. On our way, as time allows, we will stop for souvenir shopping in Arusha.

Optional Post-Tour Extension to Zanzibar is Available

July 27-30, 2024

We are pleased to offer this extension to the exotic island of Zanzibar to make your Tanzanian adventure an epic and well-rounded experience. Zanzibar is known for its stunning beaches with shallow turquoise water and beautiful sandbars that magically appear and disappear with the changing tides, as well as for the amazing flavors used in the traditional food. This small island was an important trading hub between India, mainland Africa, Portugal and Malaysia and they still produce many important spices like cinnamon, vanilla, nutmeg, pepper, cloves, and many others. This resulted in a unique blend of cultures, architecture, and flavors that you will be able to experience and enjoy on our tour.

At the conclusion of our safari tour in the Serengeti on July 27, 2024, we will go to the airport and the people who are continuing the adventure to Zanzibar will need to book flights from Kilimanjaro airport to Zanzibar. Flights are not included in the extension package but we are happy to assist with selecting and booking your flights.

Day 1 - Karibu (Welcome) to Zanzibar

Our private driver will pick us up from the Kilimanjaro International Airport and take us straight to our accommodations. I personally stayed at this resort with my family earlier this year and it was the best beach resort experience we have ever had! Breakfast and dinner will be included each day of your stay, and you will be able to charge lunch and drinks at the pool or restaurants to your room throughout your stay. On arrival day, you will have the day free to enjoy the hotel, beach, and infinity pool at your leisure.

Day 2 - Swimming with Sea Turtles and Sunset Sail

Today after breakfast, you will have the opportunity to visit the friendly sea turtles at the natural Aquarium on Nungwi Beach. This facility is a grotto which they use to house rescued sea turtles. You will be able to feed and swim with the turtles and take awesome photos of these beautiful sea animals! Afterwards, we will return to our hotel for relaxation, lunch, and swimming.

In the late afternoon, our driver will pick us up and take us to board our sailboat where we will cruise along the coast enjoying the breeze and beautiful aqua colors of the water. We will have some fresh fruit while we watch the sunset or take a dip in the sea. We will return to our resort for another delicious dinner prepared with local foods and traditional ingredients.

Day 3 - Jozani Forest, Butterfly Center and The Rock Restaurant

After our included hotel breakfast, we will depart by private car to the Jozani Forest and National Park. Our knowledgeable local guide will show us the impressive trees and share their knowledge about the ways the locals have been utilizing these plants for many years, and they will take us to see the friendly Red Colobus Monkeys. It’s usually very easy to get close to them in their natural habitat and watch them as they play and interact with each other.

Next, we will visit the Butterfly Center to learn about the many varieties of butterflies in Zanzibar and their life cycle, explore the gardens and spot many beautiful and colorful butterflies as well as some other wildlife like their resident chameleons! For lunch, we will go to The Rock Restaurant which doesn’t look real! Dining in a restaurant sitting on top of a rock surrounded by beautiful blue water and eating delicious local food is a very memorable experience indeed. I had seen photos of this place, but didn’t always know it was real or that I would ever have the opportunity to have a meal in this unique and beautiful place! After lunch we will return to our hotel for leisure time at the pool and beach and an included dinner in the evening.

Day 4 - Stone Town, Souvenir Shopping and Departure Day

After our included breakfast at the hotel, we will pack our bags into our private transport and head to Stone Town. Stone Town is a fascinating city with unique and beautiful architecture. It got its name due to the buildings built by Arab traders in the 1800s and is well known for the ornate and intricate wood doors. I could not stop taking photos of them during our visit! We will take a guided city tour and have time to explore the shops for local handicrafts and art to bring home for souvenirs before we go to the airport to travel home on July 30, 2024.

I highly recommend taking this opportunity to visit an exotic, and colorful destination and to see the many different landscapes, wildlife, and rich culture of Tanzania!

I am happy to assist with any questions you have regarding flights and travel arrangements at no additional cost.

Let's embark on a wonderful adventure together!
