FAQS
Are flights included in the package?
Flights are not included in the listed price, however Flipflops and Adventures is happy to provide assistance with selecting and booking flights and often has access to below published rates on upgraded seat class fares.
What if I am traveling solo?
All tours rates are based on double occupancy, but we are often able to connect you with another solo traveler looking for a travel partner, or we also offer the option to book a single room, simply let us know and we can provide the single supplement rate to have a private room all to yourself!
What all is included on the tour?
Anything mentioned in the tour description is already included in the price. Typically this means all hotels, breakfasts, tours, transfers, and excursions listed will be provided at no additional cost.
What additional costs should I be prepared for during travel?
You will want to bring spending money for any meals not included in your tour price (typically this is all lunches and several of the dinners) any shopping that you may want to do, snacks like gelato during your explorations, and gratuities are always appreciated by the drivers and tour guides. On some tours, an airport transfer to the hotel on your arrival may be your responsibility but you will be advised of this and the cost in advance. (For example in Florence from the airport to the city center, taxis have a fixed rate of approximately €25)
Will we always be together as a group for the entire trip?
We always plan for a good balance of time together with the group and time to explore on your own at your own pace, or to have a special dinner with your travel partner. Flipflops and Adventures is always happy to facilitate your time on your own with recommendations and assist with getting reservations made as well.
What is the size of the group for this tour?
The average group size is between 14 and 20 people for most tours.
Is this tour kid friendly?
Most of our tours are suitable for all ages, but unless it’s specifically geared towards families traveling with children or a homeschool tour, then there are probably not activities planned to specifically cater to children. There are some exceptions, such as Scotland, where the distilleries do not allow children to enter or attend the tours.
What is the best way to get local currency for my trip?
In our experience, the most efficient and least expensive way to acquire local currency is to simply withdraw it from an ATM in the destination. Please confirm with your bank whether they charge foreign transaction fees though to make sure there are no surprises there!
Do you recommend that I purchase travel insurance for this trip?
Travel insurance is always recommended and depending on the destination we are always happy to provide you with recommendations for where to purchase for your trip! We encourage you to look for a policy that covers illness or injury, trip delay or interruption, and lost luggage at a minimum. Certain circumstances may require additional consideration, so feel free to ask us any questions that you may have!
What is the cancellation and refund policy?
Our deposits are non refundable, but if you should no longer be able to travel for the tour that you booked, you can transfer it to another tour of your choice or save it as a future tour credit. After final payment, tours are non refundable, but for extenuating situations and depending on current circumstances we always work with the client and our service providers to find the best possible solutions.
Can I add on days?
Absolutely! A large portion of our clients on each tour choose to arrive early and/or stay additional days at the end of the tour to further explore the destination. We are always happy to assist with arrangements, make recommendations to help make all the parts of your adventure memorable and smooth.
Is there going to be wifi/can I use my phone?
We usually have access to free wifi at our hotel and restaurants along the way. But as we are out touring, there are often times without internet access or super strong connections. If you will need consistent strong internet access during the tour, we recommend that you make arrangements with your provider for an international plan to ensure your ability for a strong connection when needed.
What if I have dietary restrictions?
This can vary widely depending on the destination, but we only contract with local providers who have our guests' comfort at the very top of their priority list. We will certainly be able to communicate with them ahead of time to coordinate and understand what accommodations can be made or prepare for issues that may arrive. In our experience, they have been extremely proactive and accommodating of dietary issues.
What kind of transfers do you use?
We often utilize many different types of transportation throughout the tour. Frequently, we have private minibuses or vans with private drivers. Sometimes we also have private boat tours or rides. There are sometimes occasions where we are on a boat or train with others as well.
What are the accommodations like?
The accommodations can vary widely between the different tours, but we try to make sure we clearly define what to expect in the tour description. But you can expect to have a private room with only you and your traveling partner and an en suite bathroom. The level of luxury ranges from simple comfort to total luxury depending on where we are and the type of tour.
Are there any restrictions on the amount of luggage that I bring?
Most of our operators request that in order to have enough space to transport everyone’s luggage throughout the tour, that we limit ourselves to one suitcase and one personal item. Don’t worry, we will provide packing tips and tricks leading up to the tour to help you maximize your packing space!
Is there a way to know who I will be traveling with before we arrive to begin the tour?
We love to help you start connecting with your fellow travelers right away! So as the tour begins to fill up, we start a private Facebook group for each tour so that you can interact, ask questions and share your excitement, plus get familiar with the people who will hopefully be your new friends! We also try to plan a mixer or two for people who live in or near the DFW area, to get to meet up before we go.
